I've spent the past few weeks perfecting my new morning routine and I have to say, I am loving it! After months of struggling to get into a solid routine (pretty much since moving home) finally having a routine that works for me feels like such a relief. Especially since my morning routine sets the tone for the rest of my day.

Here's what my morning routine looks like!
🌸 5:00 AM: Wake up
My alarm goes off at 5 am each morning (at least on weekdays) and as much as I'd like to say I'm immediately out of bed, that's just not true. Well, I get up to turn my alarm off since it's across the room, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't crawl back under the covers for a few minutes most days.
🌸 5:15 AM: Make My Bed and Brush My Teeth
These are absolutely must-do tasks when I first get out of bed. First, if I don't make my bed right away, I'll for sure crawl back in it. Second, I hate the way my mouth feels before brushing my teeth in the morning. I don't know what it is, but seriously I can't even go downstairs without making sure to brush my teeth.
🌸 5:30 AM Feed My Dog and Let Him Out
Wrigley is, well, demanding in the morning. No one can do anything before feeding him. I mean, the only reason he lets me brush my teeth before is because that's how it's been since he was a puppy. The beauty of where we're living now is that we have a yard he can run around in first thing in the morning to get his morning energy out while also doing what he needs to do in the mornings. He's also great about staying in the yard which is a huge blessing for me on winter mornings when it's 20 degrees outside.
🌸 5:45 AM: Coffee and Get Ready For the Day
No secret here, I have to have my coffee in the morning. Specifically my collagen coffee. Once Wrigley is inside, I grab my coffee and head back upstairs to get ready. I like to get dressed, do my hair, and do my makeup before breakfast because I like to take a little bit of time getting ready. I pretty much stick to my normal makeup routine and a simple hairstyle (thank you Dyson Airwrap) and I've been laying my outfit out the night before to save myself time in the mornings.
🌸 6:00 AM: Make My Breakfast and Play With My Dog
I've been intermittent fasting recently so I typically don't eat until around 8:30 am or 9:00 am. But, I like to make my breakfast each morning to bring with me. Most of the time it's a protein smoothie because it's easy to bring to the office.
I also make sure to spend some time playing with Wrigley. Since he's home alone all day I like to make sure he's gotten some energy out and I mean, who doesn't want to play with their dog?
🌸 6:15 AM: Plan and Prep for My Day
I've got to know what's going on each day. I hate walking into meetings or tasks feeling unprepared so I make sure to spend some time planning and preparing for each day. I'm a huge fan of this type of daily planning page from The Skinny Confidential because it works so well when it comes to helping me prioritize my tasks.
I also use this time to pack my work bag, my gym bag, my food, and anything else I might need for the day.
🌸 6:30 AM: Leave for Work
I live about 40 minutes away from where I work so I've definitely got a bit of a commute. I don't have to be in the office until 8 but I like to leave early for a few reasons. First, the weather in Vermont can be funny, and especially in the winter, I like to give myself extra time in case the roads are bad. Two, I like to have time in the morning when I first get to the office to handle any work I may have for the blog/podcast before I get started on my full-time workday. Three, I like to give myself time to figure out what's going on at my full-time job before just jumping into the day.
Obviously, on the weekends this looks a little different since I'm not going to work, but I have been trying to wake up before 8 am even on the weekends.
