This year I decided to treat myself to an early birthday present! After seeing the Dyson Airwrap all over the place for the past few years I finally bit the bullet and bought myself one! I decided to purchase a refurbished one for a few reasons. One, it was a little cheaper (cheaper being relative because this sh*t is expensive). Two, it was in stock when I decided to purchase it! I'd highly recommend checking out the Dyson outlet if you're thinking about making an Airwrap purchase!
To be specific I bought the Dyson Airwrap Styler Complete in the Nickel/Fuschia color. This style comes with a storage case, a non-slip mat, the 1.2-inch barrels, the 1.6-inch barrels, a firm smoothing brush, a soft smoothing brush, a round volumizing brush, a pre-styling dryer, and a filter cleaning brush.
Since it is such a big purchase, I wanted to do a 1-week review to give you all a good idea of how it works and my first impressions. Now, I'm really bad at doing my own hair. Honestly, I usually get bored, and then it ends up looking ehh. That was a huge reason I decided to invest in the airwrap. Everyone I know who has used an airwrap says it takes way less time compared to normal styling tools once you get the hang of it. That being said, let's see how the first week with this thing went.
One of the first things I noticed what how easy it is to change the attachments. Seriously they lock into place and then you just press the unlock button and it pops right off! No fighting with each piece! Love it!
Now, it does take some getting used to but seriously this might be the easiest hair tool out there! Possibly my favorite thing about it is you can style and blow-dry your hair at the same freaking time or you can use it to do one or the other.
Another thing I will say is because the airwrap uses less direct heat and you aren't having to spend as much time using it to style your hair I'm way more comfortable using this tool daily compared to some of my other styling tools. That being said, if you style your hair one day, that style can hold for a few days with just some touch-ups - another major bonus in my opinion.
The biggest selling point for me with this tool is that it works for my incredibly thick hair, even when my hair is shorter than usual. A few months ago I traded in my long hair for a shoulder-length, layered style; which I love. But, it is a little trickier for me to style. My curling iron never wanted to do exactly what I wanted it to with my shorter hair but I've got no trouble style my hair with the airwrap.
Now, there are a few things I don't necessarily love about it. Sure, these are minor compared to how much I love it, and they're definitely things I can get over but I want to be honest with you guys!
First, the price. Yes, I am all about spending money on high-quality products that I'm going to use all the time. Sure, this will "pay for itself" in terms of coming with a bunch of different attachments, the 1-year warranty, etc., etc. but believe me the price tag is still tough to look at when making this purchase.
Second, the size of the case. If you want to bring every attachment with you on vacation or a weekend trip, you're going to make sure you have room. I'm definitely planning to bring this with me on my Disney vacation in a few weeks, but I definitely think I'm going to have to bring only my favorite attachments and not bring the whole thing because this thing takes up most of my carry-on bag.
Overall, I am obsessed with the airwrap and honestly can't see myself using anything else when it comes to doing my hair!
The fact that the case holds everything makes it so easy to keep everything organized!
This is what my hair looks like after I wash it. It's naturally wavy and if left to its own devices usually ends up a frizzy nightmare within a few hours.
Styled using the pre-styling attachment and the soft smoothing brush. I wanted a simple style that kept my hair looking smooth and put together but wasn't too over the top! Overall, this look took me maybe 15 minutes!
I'm obsessed with how bouncy my curls are when I use the airwrap! Since my hair is shorter I use the 1.2-inch barrels at the moment. What I love about this is that I can wear my hair like this for a few days with minimal touch-ups and my hair will go from the bouncy day 1 curls to a more wavy type look by day 3! Start to finish this look took me about 20 minutes!
There you go! My honest opinion on the airwrap 1 week in! I can't wait to keep trying new things with this tool and keep you all updated as I get {hopefully} better at styling my own hair!
