This is without a doubt one of the last posts I ever thought I'd make! I am by no means a fitness expert. I mean, I didn't even like working out until a month ago. But I've finally found a workout that I'm obsessed with and I wanted to share it with all of you!
If you read my 2020 resolutions post, you know one of my resolutions is to focus on my health and wellness. One of the biggest areas in this category I needed to emphasize in 2020 was fitness. Since I've always hated going to the gym, fitness stayed at the bottom of my priority list for as long as I can remember. But let me tell you, my 22-year-old self can't stay in shape just by thinking about it the way my 16 year old self could, that's for sure. That being said, I knew I needed to find something that would help me prioritize fitness while also helping me keep my mental health in check.
Ever since I went to a Pure Barre class with my mom's best friend (thanks Lolo) I've been obsessed! But, in college I didn't want to spend the money or commit the time to any sort of fitness regiment, so I told myself that "eventually I'd get a Pure Barre membership". Well, I finally bought a membership and it has changed my life!
For those of you who aren't familiar, Pure Barre is a full-body workout designed to use small movements to help strengthen and tone your entire body. Let me tell y'all, it's no joke! Seriously, every time I leave, I feel like jelly. But it's absolutely worth it!
There are so many reasons I love Pure Barre!
For one, it's different every class. Even though some of the movements are the same, each class works your muscles in different ways. Seriously, I'm using muscles I didn't even know existed.
Two, it's quick! Each class is 50 minutes (with the occasional 75-minute intensive classes) which makes it so easy to fit a workout in almost every day, even with my busy schedule. Being able to fit a workout into my schedule makes prioritizing my fitness journey that much easier. Since I don't have to constantly work around my workouts or try and adjust them to fit my bust schedule, there's significantly less stress accompanying this resolution.
Finally, it's a way to connect with people and hold myself accountable at the same time! I'm a very social person and having other people to hold me accountable is a huge benefit to working out in group/class settings! One of my favorite parts of Pure Barre is making new connections with people and being able to work out with friends!
Pure Barre has truly helped me not only find a fitness routine that works for my life, but it has also helped me improve my mental health. Before going to Pure Barre consistently I felt restless and uneasy. I was constantly tired and easily irritable. Overall, I was just not in the best mental place. Ever since starting a regular Pure Barre routine I've found myself in a much better mental place. Small things that used to irritate and upset me don't bother me nearly as much and if they do, I can almost always put myself in a better place by going to a class!
All of this to say, I'm obsessed with Pure Barre! What workouts are you guys loving right now? Let me know! Also, let me know if y'all try out Pure Barre - I promise you won't be disappointed. To see more about Pure Barre follow @actuallytho_ on Instagram and check out my Pure Barre highlight!
