I'm Thankful For...| Thanksgiving Post

Happy Thanksgiving! I cannot believe it is already the holiday season! 2021 has flown by and although I do in fact have Christmas music already playing, I am so excited to celebrate Thanksgiving! Great food, time with family and friends, cold Vermont weather, really there's nothing quite like a Thanksgiving in Vermont!

I could write an entire post about my favorite Thanksgiving foods, outfits, etc. and if you follow my Instagram you are sure to see plenty of my Thanksgiving favorites on Thursday. Instead I wanted to take some time to express my gratitude and give you some ideas on how you can do the same!

Like many of you, I try and express gratitude every day, but I think it's so important this time of year to go all out with the gratitude and really express it on a large scale. I mean, that's the whole point of Thanksgiving, right?

My family can't be the only one that makes everyone say what they're thankful for before we eat. Full confession, I used to think this was silly. Maybe it was because I wanted to eat as fast as possible or maybe because I was younger and didn't know any better, but I digress. It's now one of my favorite traditions, and it's what I've based my own Thanksgiving tradition on.

I started this last year, and I don't know why I'm just getting around to sharing it because I think it sets the tone for the entire holiday. On Thanksgiving morning, before I go downstairs, really before I even get out of bed, I write down every single thing I am grateful for in that moment. Seriously, ever. single. thing. I get super specific. I'm talking down to micro parts of my morning routine, like the smell of my moisturizer.

I take up as much room in my notebook as I want and I take as much time as I need to write everything down. I can't even begin to tell you how incredible it feels to do this. Now sure, I write down 3 things I'm grateful for each morning as part of my morning routine, but it's not quite the same.

I love flooding my brain with gratitude and then going downstairs to spend the day with my loved ones, cooking, enjoying amazing food and definitely having a cocktail or two.

I also started this because I anted something that was specifically a Thanksgiving tradition. Sure, dinner itself is a tradition and my family has little traditions here and there but I wanted something that was specifically meant to get myself in the right mindset.

I'll share a glimpse into my list on Thursday so stay tuned for that! If you try this out, take a picture and tag me on Instagram!
